How To Hide My Snapchat Score From Friends

Your Snapchat score is a number that shows how active you are on the app, but sometimes you may want to keep it private.

Unfortunately, Snapchat doesn’t provide a direct option to hide your score from friends.

There are effective workarounds that can help you control who can see your score, including managing your friend list and adjusting privacy settings.

In this guide, we will walk you through practical, real steps to hide your Snapchat score from friends while maintaining your privacy on the platform.

What Is a Snapchat Score?

What Is a Snapchat Score?

If you’re not sure what your Snap score even is, it’s that number that appears below your Bitmoji or profile picture. It increases based on how active you are, sending snaps, receiving them, posting stories, and so on.

Here’s the catch: your Snapchat score is visible to anyone you're friends with and who has also added you back. That means if you’ve added someone and they’ve added you back, they can see your score and vice versa. Snapchat doesn’t currently provide a setting to turn this off. But I didn’t let that stop me.

Why Hide My Snapchat Score?

For me, the Snap score started to feel like a subtle form of pressure. Friends would comment on how fast my score was climbing, or ask why it didn’t go up after I supposedly “ignored” their snap. It became a weird way for people to measure how active I was or even judge my priorities.

Privacy is something I value more and more, especially on social apps. I realized that I didn’t want everyone on my list keeping tabs on how often I was using the app.

How To Hide My Snapchat Score From Friends?

Method 1: Remove the Friend

Method 1: Remove the Friend

The most discreet and non-confrontational way to hide your Snapchat score from someone is simply to remove them from your friend list. Once someone is no longer your mutual friend, your score becomes invisible to them.

To do this, open Snapchat and swipe right to go to the Chat screen. Find the person you want to remove, tap and hold their name, then select “Manage Friendship” and choose “Remove Friend.”

They won’t get any notification, and unless they specifically check your profile, they probably won’t even notice they’ve been removed. Your score will no longer be visible to them.

Method 2: Block the Person

Block the Person

Now, let’s say someone’s really nosy or toxic and you don’t want them seeing anything; your stories, your messages, or your score. In that case, blocking is the nuclear option.

To block someone, open the Chat screen, find their name, and press and hold on it. Then tap on “Manage Friendship” and select “Block.”

Once you do this, they’ll be instantly removed as a friend, and all future contact is cut off. Not only will they no longer be able to see your Snapchat score, but it’ll be like you vanished from their Snapchat entirely.

Method 3: Tighten Privacy Settings

Tighten Privacy Settings

While Snapchat doesn’t give us a “hide Snap score” button, it does let us control who can interact with us.

To do this, tap your profile icon in the top-left corner of the app, then hit the gear icon in the top-right to access your Settings. Scroll down to the Privacy Control section and adjust key options like “Contact Me,” “View My Story,” and “See Me in Quick Add” to “My Friends” or even “Only Me.”

While this doesn’t hide your score outright, it gives you much more control over who can find and engage with you on the platform.

Is There a Way to Freeze or Hide My Score Without Removing Anyone?

Short answer: Not really.

Snapchat doesn't allow you to freeze your score or hide it while still being friends with someone. There’s no setting even in Snapchat+ (I checked).

Some forums talk about using third-party apps, but I highly recommend avoiding them. They can compromise your account or even get you banned.

Pro Tip: Use Airplane Mode to Avoid Score Updates Temporarily

Pro Tip: Use Airplane Mode to Avoid Score Updates Temporarily

I experimented with this, and it kind of works. If you want to view snaps without your score going up:

  • Load Snapchat while connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Then turn on Airplane Mode.
  • View or take snaps while offline.

Important: Don’t reconnect until you’ve closed the app or the pending actions will still be counted.

This isn’t a long-term fix, but it’s handy for one-off situations.

What Happens When Someone Unfriends or Blocks You?

Here’s something interesting I discovered: if someone unfriends or blocks you, your score becomes invisible to them too. The downside? You can’t really control this unless they remove you.

If you’re on the fence about removing someone, this is a softer option. You can just wait until the relationship fades, or create content that doesn’t encourage close interactions.

How To Hide My Snapchat Score From Friends FAQs

Can I hide my score from just one person without unfriending them?

Unfortunately, Snapchat doesn’t let you hide your score from specific friends while staying connected with them.

The only real options you have are to either remove them as a friend or block them entirely. Once you’re no longer mutual friends, they lose access to your Snap score.

It might feel a bit drastic if it’s just one person you're trying to avoid, but there’s currently no way to pick and choose who can see that number while keeping them on your friend list.

Can I reduce my Snap score?

Nope, there’s no official way to lower or reset your Snap score. Once points are added, they stay there.

Snapchat hasn’t provided any setting or tool that allows users to decrease their score, and sending or receiving fewer snaps won’t reverse the existing number.

The only way to stop it from increasing is by cutting back on app usage altogether. But even then, the score doesn’t go down, it just stays the same.

Can Ghost Mode hide my score?

Ghost Mode only affects your visibility on the Snap Map. It’s a great way to keep your location private, but it does nothing to hide your Snapchat score.

If you’re still mutual friends with someone, they’ll continue to see your score, regardless of whether Ghost Mode is on or off.

Why can’t I see someone else’s score?

If you can’t see another user’s Snapchat score, it likely means one of a few things: either they’ve removed you from their friend list, they’ve blocked you, or you were never mutual friends in the first place.

Remember, Snap scores are only visible between users who have added each other. So if that number is missing, your connection status with them has likely changed.

Takeaway

After a lot of testing, here’s the cold, hard truth: the only way to hide your Snap score is to limit who’s on your friend list. That means removing or blocking people who don’t need access to that part of your life.

For me, I found peace by trimming my list down and being more intentional with who I add. It’s not about being secretive, it’s about boundaries.
